Cast of the Fall 2003 Production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

The idea to form a group called "Chelan Valley Players" began in 1985 with the highly successful production of Fiddler on the Roof, collaborative effort between the Ruby Theater, members of the Chelan Arts Council and other theatre lovers.

After lying dormant for a few years, Chelan valley Players produced a musical, "Anything Goes", in the fall of 1991 and in the summer of 1992,  the play "Arsenic and Old Lace". The cast was led by the well know equity actress, Leah Sluis, who became president of the organization shortly thereafter and served in that position until her death in June 1999.

CVP has grown since then into an organization of 15 board members and updated by-laws and procedures that now offers a broad range of productions and sponsored events. In 2003 we sponsored an outdoor, summer children's theatre culminating in a performance at Chelan's Riverwalk Pavilion. Also that summer we began what we hope is a tradition of outdoor open mic, short plays, and scheduled local entertainment during the month of August at the Riverwalk Pavilion. A spring play and a fall musical is now offered each year.

CVP puts an emphasis on youth by offering a yearly theatrical college scholarship and works young children and youth into our musicals. We support the local dance studio and give technical and costuming assistance for the grade school, middle school, and high school drama productions.

We continue to plan for the future with an active ongoing play selection committee. One of our future goals to have a listing of events a year in advance.
